Mô tả công việc OUCRU’s ten-year vision is to have local, regional and global impact on health by leading a locally-driven research programme on infectious diseases in Southeast Asia. The Unit’s main focus of work is in Typhoid, Dengue, Infections of the Central Nervous System, Influenza, Malaria, Tetanus, Influenza, HIV and Tuberculosis. The Tuberculosis group’s major research interests are improving TB diagnosis and treatment by carrying out clinical trials of new diagnostic tests and therapeutic approaches. We also aim to understand how genetic variations in both host and pathogen influence disease presentations, treatment responses and outcomes. JOB SUMMARY Perform microbiology diagnostic tests and support laboratory activities for antibiotic resistance projects in the TB group. KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES · Performing diagnostic tests for tuberculosis, comprising classical and modified or molecular techniques · Preparing laboratory reagents as needed · Assisting with data entry and inventory of samples processed, equipment maintenance · Work with Mycobacterium tuberculosis pathogen in Biosafety Level 3 (BSL3) Laboratory Note: Training in the required techniques, including microbiology and molecular techniques, will be provided. The candidates will also be trained to work in BSL2 and BSL3. DEPARTMENT Tuberculosis Group LOCATION This post is based in Oxford University Clinical Research Unit, Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. HOURS OF WORK Full time Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week, extra hours may be required. TENURE Contract for one year on completion of 2 month probation, with possibility of extension.
